I knew the moment I saw the call for art by the Grand Art Haus (@grandarthaus) in downtown Phoenix for “Nasty Women: Phoenix Unite” show, I had a project on my hands. I decided to seek out some notable women of 2016. Women who were fighting social justice battles long before there was a big boogey clown crowned for power. Women who would give me hope. Women who would inspire me to do and be good. Of the many social justice warriors out there, these were the ones I chose.
It took a moment. She looked perplexed, like she was worried to see what the aftermath of this make-up session looked like on her bedroom floor. Then, she smiled in recognition.
